Learning how to stop golf sway in your swing is critical to consistent ball striking and maximizing your distance with every club in your bag. The proper golf swing is rotational with minimal lateral movement. There's a weight shift, but it's not a blatant shift over your right knee in your backswing.Taylormade R9 Supermax Driver

And the culprit is the right knee and lower leg. I am guilty of this myself. I have a very active right knee that does not stay fixed. Now I don't mean locked, as the right knee needs to remain flexed throughout your swing, but what I mean, is not moving side-to-side of the right knee

The minute this knee shifts to the side, you have now moved your center of gravity off the ball, and you will now need to shift, slide or sway back to the ball in your downswing. You've now brought a timing mechanism into your swing that you didn't need, and some days you might be able to time the sway, and other days you won't. PING K15 Irons
